AKWA IBOM'S FUEL PRICE DROP: What You Need to Know
The pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) popularly known as petrol has witnessed a drop as against what was obtained a few weeks ago.
Checks conducted by reporters on both the major and independent Marketers of Petroleum products in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital and the nearby towns showed their products were being dispensed to customers without queues.
Petrol outlets were seen dispensing the pump price between N1120 and N125 unlike previous weeks which was between N1400 and N1500 per litre respectively.
The investigation also showed that major marketers like the outlet operated by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd along off Itam junction, in the outskirts of Uyo has less customers queuing to buy their product though the price was relatively lower than in other outlets run by independent Marketers in the city.
The story was the same at Aka Etinan road where other petrol outlets were also seen selling petrol without any much pressure.
It was not immediately clear why the pump price of petrol has dropped but Godwin Ekpo, chairman of the Petroleum Product Monitoring Committee (PPMC) noted that consistent fuel sales at NNPC-designated stations and some major marketers have boosted availability, leading to price reduction among independent marketers.
