 Etim Ekpo To Come Alive As Wasinfreke Udoessien's 'Rural Youths Tournament' Kicks Off December 12




All is set for the hosting of yet another exciting edition of the Wasinfreke Udoessien 'Rural Youths Tournament', the 3rd edition in a row, this December, 12.


The yearly tournament, which is facilitated by a philanthropist son of the soil, Wasinfreke Udoessien is in partnership with the Loveworld Global Fellowship led by Dr. Daysman Oyakhilome MNBR, in a bid to galvanize communal patriotism, unity of purpose, peaceful coexistence and empowering the youths of the rural communities in Etim Ekpo local government and Akwa Ibom in general.


A Press Statement signed by the tournament's Facilitator, Wasinfreke Udoessien, indicated that all matches in the tournament will be played in Primary School, Ikot Edet and shall have the 7 villages of Ward 4 participating.


According to Udoessien, every participating team will smile home with consolation prizes, while the eventual 1st, 2nd and 3rd place Winners will cart home the coveted trophy and cash prizes, respectively.


"The tournament is an annual event, that has continued unabated for the last 3 years. Its features include not only the physical aspect of sports, but our intention is to galvanize unity, love, celebration of Christ birth and empower their minds for optimum growth and productivity. As a tradition, our Lead partner, the Loveworld Global Fellowship has always been on hand to serve and reach out to the rural communities, sharing love and empowering the people to achieve purpose in life", the statement read in part.


On his part, the Chairman, Local Organising Committee, Mr. Anamama Joseph, assured that necessary arrangements are in place for a smooth hosting of the tournament, emphasizing the need for a peaceful coexistence in the rural communities.


Mr. Joseph, however commended the Facilitators and Partners for the initiative and promised a hitch free, but memorable outing.

A cold War has erupted between the Member representing Ukanafun in the State Assembly, Elder Emem Udom and the SA Humanitarian Services, Elder Nsikanabasi Umoekpo, over supervisorship nominee for Southern Afaha, Ward 10 in Ukanafun Local Government Area. MP Emem and Umoekpo are kinsmen from the same political Ward in Ukanafun.
