Trump Returns to Washington, Sets Stage for Comeback Celebration
Washington D.C. is abuzz as Donald Trump, the United States' incoming president, touched down on Saturday evening, January 18, marking the start of celebrations ahead of his inauguration. The 78-year-old Republican, who defeated Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris in the November 5 election, arrived aboard an Air Force plane dispatched by outgoing President Joe Biden.
Trump departed from his base in Palm Beach, Florida, accompanied by his wife, Melania; youngest son, Barron; daughter, Ivanka; and her husband, Jared Kushner. Upon landing at Dulles Airport in suburban Virginia, the president-elect made his way to his golf club in Sterling, Virginia, where he is preparing for the transition.
Trump’s pre-inauguration agenda includes a rally with supporters at the Capital One Arena in downtown Washington on Sunday. On Monday, after the swearing-in ceremony, a post-inauguration event will follow, capping off the festivities.
Big names are expected to join Trump in the celebrations, including actor Jon Voight, wrestling legend Hulk Hogan, and top business executives such as Tesla and X CEO Elon Musk, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, and TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew.
The celebrations will culminate with a public evening reception and a spectacular fireworks display at Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Virginia, signaling the official return of Donald Trump to the presidency.
