Gov Eno Launches 11 Youth Development Centres, Aims for 31 Across State by May 2026- Oku Udoetor

 



In a bid to tackle rising unemployment and harness the potential of youths in the State, Governor Umo Eno has launched an ambitious initiative to establish a Youth Development Centre across the State. These dynamic centers will provide young people with the skills, opportunities, and resources they need to thrive in today's fast-changing world.


The hubs, which will be built in all 31 Local Government Areas, will feature state-of-the-art facilities, including multi-sectoral training centers, incubation hubs, co-working spaces, and recreational lounges. Each Youth Development Centre will offer modular programs, accelerator and incubation support, and access to digital tools, arts, and culture.


Governor Eno emphasized that the hubs are not just physical structures but safe spaces for innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship. He urged young people to take ownership of the youth development centre and use them as platforms to discover, nurture, and launch their talents.


The governor announced plans to construct 20 more youth development centres by January 2026, with a target of completing one youth centre per Local Government Area before May 2026. The initiative is part of his administration's commitment to youth empowerment and inclusive development.


Key features of the centres include training and skills development, mentorship and coaching, innovation and creativity spaces, community and social areas, sports and recreation facilities, counseling and support services, technology and digital resources, event and activity spaces, leadership and capacity building, and partnerships and collaborations.


The launch of the Youth  Development Centre marks a significant milestone in Akwa Ibom's developmental journey, demonstrating the government's faith in the creativity, resilience, and potential of its youth.
