Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, Ph.D, has praised Rep. Unyime Idem, PhD, Member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency and Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Public Procurement, for attracting numerous dividends of democracy to his constituents and supporting his administration.

Governor Eno made the commendations while commissioning a fully equipped General Hospital at Ikot Akpa Nkuk, Ukanafun, which was abandoned for 16 years until his intervention. The hospital is the first secondary healthcare facility in Ukanafun Local Government Area since its creation in 1976.

The Governor also approved the installation of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine and dialysis units at the hospital and announced the completion of the Ikot Akpan Afaha - Ekefe Road construction project. He directed the Commissioner for Works to mobilize the contractor back to the site immediately.

Governor Eno expressed gratitude to Rep. Idem for donating and installing solar-powered streetlights at the hospital and renovating some Primary Health Centres across the federal constituency. He promised to attend Rep. Idem's launch and presentation of cheques to beneficiaries of the One Billion Naira Family-based Empowerment Initiative on December 6, 2025.

"I thank you for what you're doing. Thank you for your support. Thank you for showing what collaboration can do. Thank you for showing what unity can do," Governor Eno said.

Rep. Idem appreciated Governor Eno for completing the hospital and upgrading it to a secondary health facility. He said the people of Ukanafun have decided to support Governor Eno due to his superlative performance and love for the people.

Idem said we the people of Ukanafun have decided to follow you and we will support you following your superlative performance and the love you have for the people of Ukanafun, we will vote for you to continue beyond 2027 because you're a leader who is not thinking of the next election, but thinking about the next generation. My Governor, let me say that "investment in health is the greatest investment any government can give to the people."

The General Hospital includes a newly constructed access and internal road network, easing the long-standing burden of accessing medical care in the area. The facility has 62-bed capacity, oxygen wall units, maternity services, diagnostics, staff quarters, and solar-powered electricity.
