Stephen James: A Compelling Case for Uyo Federal Constituency
Leadership is not merely proclaimed; it is revealed through years of selfless service, tested by responsibility, and refined by conviction. The story of Stephen James exemplifies this, shaped by a quiet, yet steady tradition of purposeful leadership.
Born on April 24, 1978, to Elder Moses James Udoh of the Akpoto family, Mbierebe Obio, Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area, Stephen James is a pastor at Full Life Christian Centre and the Executive Director of Democratic Watch International. With over two decades of experience in public relations, journalism, and development advocacy, he combines faith, intellect, and civic responsibility.
His leadership instincts surfaced early at the University of Port Harcourt. From serving as Director of Socials of the National Association of Akwa Ibom State Students (NAAKISS) to acting as President of the Faculty of Social Sciences, and later Speaker of the Students’ Union Government in 2003, he steadily earned a reputation for coordination, negotiation, and student-focused governance.
After completing his National Youth Service in Ebonyi State in 2007, he was appointed South South Zonal Representative of Democratic Watch International, a civil society platform committed to democratic consolidation and institutional accountability. His involvement with advocacy bodies such as Amnesty International and the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights positioned him within policy circles, leading to his recommendation to serve on President Musa Yar’Adua’s Presidential Committee on the Millennium Development Goals and NEPAD in 2009.
Balanced in temperament yet firm in conviction, Stephen James embodies grassroots credibility, institutional expertise, and ideological consistency. It is this fusion of service, advocacy, and political maturity that underscores his readiness to represent the people of Uyo Federal Constituency come 2027.
Stephen Ekpedeme-James, joins the Federal Constituency race not as a political greenhorn but one decked in public service experience, public administration, policy advocacy and social cum institutional governance. His foray has already signals hope for a paradigm shift in Uyo Federal Constituency, given the mandate.
