ISDMA CELEBRATES SENATE PRESIDENT AKPABIO, FEDERAL LAWMAKERS ON THIRD ANNIVERSARY

The Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District Media Advocates, ISDMA, heartily congratulates the President of the 10th Senate, Distinguished Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, GCON, and all Members of the National Assembly from Akwa Ibom State on the occasion of the third anniversary of the 10th National Assembly.

We particularly celebrate the Chairman of the National Assembly, Senator Godswill Akpabio, whose emergence as President of the 10th Senate in 2023 generated high expectations among Akwa Ibom people and Nigerians at large.

As the highest-ranking political office holder from the state, his election was widely seen as a unique opportunity to strengthen Akwa Ibom’s voice in national affairs and contribute to leadership at a critical period in Nigeria’s democratic journey.

Three years later, Senator Akpabio has continued to provide stable and effective leadership at the National Assembly. Under his watch, the Senate has remained active, cohesive and reform-oriented.

Official records show that within the period under review. Senate introduced over 844bills and passed over 96 into law, more than 83 bills passed while 50+ have been signed into law.

Key legislative achievements during this period include major tax reform bills aimed at modernising Nigeria’s fiscal framework, the Student Loan (Access to Higher Education) Act, the Electricity Act Amendment, the National Minimum Wage Amendment Act, the Investments and Securities Act, and several regional development commission bills.

The Senate under Akpabio’s leadership has also recorded notable progress in bipartisan cooperation, institutional stability, timely passage of national budgets, and strengthened parliamentary diplomacy. Nigeria’s election into the Executive Committee of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) for the first time in decades further reflects the growing global relevance of the National Assembly.

ISDMA also commends Akwa Ibom North-West federal lawmakers in the House of Representatives; Rt. Hon. Unyime Idem, PhD; Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ukpong-Udo, PhD; Hon. Patrick Umoh, PhD; and Hon. Clement Jimbo, for their outstanding performance and effective representation.

Their commitment to constituency development, legislative duties, empowerment programmes and community engagement has earned them recognition and awards from various reputable organisations as some of the most outstanding lawmakers in the National Assembly.

Indeed, Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District continues to be proudly represented by some of the best-performing legislators in the 10th National Assembly.

ISDMA further applauds the cordial working relationship between Senator Akpabio, members of the National Assembly, and the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD. This synergy has contributed significantly to peace, stability, and development in the state.

The collaboration among these leaders has also translated into increased empowerment opportunities, human capital development, and socio-economic interventions for the people of Akwa Ibom State.

ISDMA also congratulates all their National Lawmakers on their successful emergence as candidates at the recent APC primaries. Their victories reflect the continued confidence of their constituents and party faithful.

As they continue in their legislative duties, ISDMA remains optimistic that the remaining period of the 10th National Assembly will deliver even greater dividends of democracy to Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, Akwa Ibom State, and Nigeria at large.

We pray for continued wisdom, strength, and success in their service to the nation.

Congratulations and best wishes.

Signed:

Mr. Emmanuel Akpabio
