Akwa Ibom Court Jails Police Officer for Contempt The Akwa Ibom State High Court, Abak Judicial Division has committed a Police Officer, Mrs. Juliet Attah to three months imprisonment for disobeying a Court order to produce a tricycle she seized from a tricyclist, Mr. Elijah Alphonsus Akpan, since 2024. The Court presided over by Justice Eno Isangedighi gave the order in a ruling following the fundamental rights enforcement suit filed by the tricyclist against Mrs. Juliet Attah, who is attached to Abak Divisional Police Station. In her ruling, Justice Isangedighi committed the Police woman to three months imprisonment at the Ikot Ekpene Custodial Centre of the Nigeria Correctional Service, without option of fine. The ruling came upon a motion on notice filed by the applicant on 12th March, 2025 after hearing his counsel, Victor Nkanang, Esquire, praying the Court for an order committing the contemnor to the Custodial Centre for disobedience to the Order of Court made o...
