Chairman, Assembly Service Commission, Barr. Godwill Umoh, Other Commissioners Resign From PDP, Join APC
• “as loyal appointees we're joining our Boss, believing his decision as best for the State and Nation in this critical time” — Barr Umoh
Chairman Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Service Commission, Hon. Barr. Godwill Umoh has officially resigned his membership from the Peoples Democratic Party, to the All Progressive Congress, APC.
The Chairman joined the APC along with his Commissioners — Dr. Roberta Edem (Commissioner 2), Obongiwaad Etienne Bob (Commissioner 3), Hon. Barr. Godwin Awah PhD (Commissioner 4), amongst others.
Speaking with members of the Information and Public Relations Unit of the Commission, shortly after the Promotion interview for Senior staff of the House of Assembly and Assembly Service Commission, Barr Umoh hinted that he, alongside his Commissioners are joining the Governor in the APC to accentuate his vision in aligning the State with the President Bola Tinubu-led federal government for the good of the State.
“You're all aware that His Excellency, the Governor has defected to the All Progressive Congress, APC. We were part of that defection. But today, we're seated here as a Commission — Chairman and all Commissioners to say that we support His Excellency's movement to another party. We have all moved with him, especially when the reason for doing so is for the greater good of Akwa Ibom State. And as His Excellency said, the idea is to fill in the gap and align with His Excellency the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, for the greater good of the State and Nation at large.
“So let me specially thank all of us, especially the Peoples Democratic Party that has given us the platform many years ago, but today the reality is His Excellency the Governor has moved and we as his loyal appointees have also moved with him.
“Let me also seize this opportunity to thank the former Governor and President of the Senate, His Excellency Senator Godswill Akpabio for his outstanding works especially in putting Akwa in the frontline of the development at the national level.
“We also send felicitations to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Tinubu. And for our followers, we want to say that His Excellency the Governor means well for the State. And in a very few years to come we shall reap the benefits of this decision”
The Chairman, flanked by the Commissioners, who expressed optimism in the outcome of the Governor's defection, noted that their movements were in tandem with the Governor's vision and heightened interest in repositioning some critical sectors of the State for the benefit of all.
