Within this evolving landscape, Akwa Ibom State is emerging as a critical arena where local mobilisation intersects with national ambition, and the Renewed Hope Ambassadors Group is positioning itself as a strategic bridge between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda and the people at the community level. The Renewed Hope Ambassadors Group in Akwa Ibom State, under the leadership of Prince Ikim, has outlined a deliberate and structured approach to political engagement that prioritises inclusion, consistency, and sustained presence across wards, local government areas, and informal com...

FROM STREETS TO HEARTS: THE PRINCE IKIM'S NEW MISSION

Image
Now, let's read about a c ertain man named Prince Ikim. His story unfolds like a well-scripted play, each scene revealing another layer of service, another act of duty. In Akwa Ibom, his name is synonymous with efficiency. As a man with much laurels in his antecedence, he doesn't just do the job; he performs a miracle. We can recount how, under his watch, Akwa Ibom became  the ‘Cleanest State’ in Nigeria, not once, but multiple times. At that, it didn't come on a silver platter - he was always on the streets, cleaning the State and the results was palpable! There was pride in that achievement. Tangible, visible pride. Day and night, Prince Ikim rolls up his sleeves to keep the State neat and tidy. This, he has done with dignity and prestige. Waste management, hitherto despised, is now made attractive. That is by the way!  But life, like politics, has a way of shifting the stage beneath our feet. Recently, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu  handed Prince Ikim a ne...

DETAINED IN 1983 FOR LEAKING A CØUP- KILLED FOR CONCEALING A COUP

Image
Detained in 1983 for leaking a cøup against Shagari, k!lled in 1986 for concealing a coup against Babangida Sometimes, life is not fair. That was the case of Major Daniel Idowu Bamidele, a fine military officer who was first detained for revealing a plot to overthrow President Shehu Shagari in 1983 and later exēcüted for keeping quiet and failing to leak a plot to overthrow the government of Ibrahim Babangida allegedly by Mamman Vatsa. His first close shave with dæth occurred in October 1983 when as a loyal officer, he heard of a plan to remove Shagari from office. Immediately he returned to Jos from his trip to Kaduna, he went to Major General Muhammadu Buhari, who was then his General Officer Commanding (GOC) and told the latter what he heard, not knowing that Buhari was even a prime plotter of the cøup. Exactly one week after, Bamidele was arrested and brought to Lagos, detained by the Directorate of Military Intelligence at Tego Barracks on claims that he was plotting to over...

OBONG DR PRINCE IKIM AND THE PERPETUAL AWARDS AND HONOR

Image
Before 2018, Uyo's dirty environment was a total mess, posing serious health risks and environmental concerns. The consequences of such neglect were far-reaching. The streets, dumpsites were an absolute disaster, a huge health hazard and environmental nightmare all rolled into one.  The neglect was crazy, and the consequences were severe. Waterborne diseases like cholera and typhoid were basically having a field day in those unsanitary conditions. And don't even get me started on the malaria breeding gutters and grounds ... it was like the city was inviting mosquitoes over for a party. The blocked drains were like mini lakes, flooding homes and businesses, and disrupting lives big time. Trash and waste were just dumped everywhere, polluting the air and triggering respiratory issues and other health problems.  The stench and ugly sights were a total turn-off, affecting people's mental well-being and the local economy . And let's not forget about the local ecosystems su...
